Hanalei

Hanalei was originally a single project within the acoustic guitar in addition laptop tradition from the Postal Services, featuring Brian Moss, formerly from the Chicago-based emo music group the Ghost (never to end up being confused with the first-class and longer-lived Japan psychedelia work Ghost, or for example using the obscure early-’70s U.K. folk-psych group known as the Ghost). The Ghost, which got their own origins inside a past due-’90s Bay Region pop-punk music group known as the Wunder Years, released two albums, THAT IS a Hospital which Pen Is really a Tool, before disbanding in 2004. Prior to the Ghost got even split up, Moss got already documented the tracks that could become Hanalei’s 1st album, 2004’s WE ALL HAVE BEEN Natural Disasters. This is a strictly single effort, but because the Ghost offered itself up (sorry), Moss thought we would a minimum of briefly reformat Hanalei like a full-strength music group. Second guitarist Pete Tsoukas, bassist Pete Croke, and drummer Jason Kyrouac, all veterans of varied minor Chicago rings, joined Moss before the documenting of Hanalei’s second recording, Parts and Add-ons, changing the debut’s sparse audio having a rootsy mixture of classical guitar, pedal metal, cello, banjo, and violin. Nevertheless, shortly after the discharge of Parts and Add-ons in 2006, Moss split up this release of Hanalei and shifted back again to his previous stomping grounds of Oakland, CA, and revived Hanalei in its unique strictly single incarnation.
