Flower-Corsano Duo

A fruitful cooperation between Vibracathedral Orchestra co-founder Michael Rose and American avant-garde drummer Chris Corsano, the Flower-Corsano Duo found a distinctive sound created by Corsano’s melodic drumming as well as the dreamy textures from the bulbul tarang, a 17-string desk instrument sometimes called an “Indian banjo.” In a few ways just like a dulcimer and in others as an autoharp, it demonstrated an ideal foil for Corsano’s drumming. The bubul tarang’s wealthy drones gave Blossom and Corsano an otherworldly bed for exploration that could range between peaceful to cacophonous. Both toured together frequently, issuing several classes, including their debut, Radiant Reflection, as well as the live The Chocolates Cities, documented in Europe in ’09 2009.
