Though he’s among the afterwards recruits to Detroit’s Underground Resistance family, DJ Rolando (aka the Aztec Mystic) became perhaps one of the most important statistics in the UR organization after two releases: his Aztec Mystic Mix, which compiled every one of the label’s brightest tracks in a sensational compilation; and his “Jaguar” one, a leftfield dance strike that became a flashpoint for UR’s anti-major label position. Elevated in Mexicantown (correct next towards the Ambassador Bridge on Detroit’s southwest aspect), Rolando was raised mixing up the freestyle and hip-hop that was common money around the region. After he became thinking about techno aswell and began falling it into his pieces, a friend presented him to “Mad” Mike Banking institutions, the first choice of Underground Level of resistance and among the principal statistics in Motor Town techno. Rolando shortly began DJing all over the world within the UR company, and produced his creation debut over the Underground Level of resistance monitors “Aztlan” and “Aztec Mystic.” He also created a monitor (“Mi Raza”) for the UR full-length Interstellar Fugitives. In early 1999, the B-side of his one “Ascesión/Jaguar” obtained airplay in English night clubs and on radio, and his Aztec Mystic Blend gained a lot more compliment. By the finish of the entire year, “Jaguar” got gained a lot attention — a lot of it in industrial trance circles where UR’s pioneering function was hardly known — that Sony Germany attempted a tone-for-tone trance remake from the monitor for potential graph entry and addition on DJ albums. Underground Level of resistance immediately structured an uprising of record-store owners, techno purists, and underground DJs world-wide to protest the documenting and boycott its launch. Whilst another megalabel, BMG, regarded as doing a similar thing, Sony supported down and drawn the solitary. UR responded with Revenge from the Jaguar: The Mixes, an EP with remixes by Detroit numbers Jeff Mills and Octave One aswell as Banking institutions himself.
