This first-generation new wave outfit was formed in 1979 in SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA, California, USA, having a selection of artists better known for his or her contributions with their ‘regular’ bands. The line-up presented Claude Bessy (b. 20 June 1945, Normandy, France; d. 2 Sept 1999, Barcelona, Spain; vocals), Phranc (b. 1958, LA, California, USA; acoustic guitar), Rickie Jaffe (bass), Robert Lopez (keyboards, also Zeros) and Craig Lee (drums, ex-Cars [not really the Vehicles ]; Invaders; Mutards; Hand bags). Bessy, an ex-dishwasher flipped punk visionary, was the most remarkable of the composing team within the LA punk journal, Slash, composing beneath the name Kickboy Encounter. He later on relocated to the united kingdom to be press official for Tough Trade Information, a video DJ in the Haçienda, and a music video maker. Phranc, later on a solo designer advocated by Morrissey, remembers the music group’s short exploits therefore: ‘Catholic Self-discipline was never a genuine ‘music group’ situation.
