Led from the multi-talented Joe Cassidy (the only real constant member), a native of Belfast, North Ireland, Butterfly Kid burst onto the music scene in 1991 with two well-received EPs on the.R. Kane’s Hark label. Putting your signature on to Tough Trade in 1993, Butterfly Kid released both amazing Ghetto Speak EP and similarly wonderful Onomatopoeia recording. It was apparent upon launch that Butterfly Kid will be hard to classify. Their visionary audio had not been unlike Brian Wilson caught in the Cocteau Twins documenting program while John Cage battled with John Cale over creation. Lost in an environment of fads and short-lived music moments (Madchester, shoegazing, and grunge), Butterfly Kid received kudos from your press but didn’t set the entire world burning, sales-wise. Putting your signature on with Dedicated Information, Butterfly Kid released their second recording, The Honeymoon vacation Suite, in 1995. Even more kudos adopted (“the record the word ‘ideal pop’ must have come to exist for” stated Melody Maker) but Butterfly Kid still remained simply beyond your mainstream, adored by their group of fans (that was developing larger with each discharge). By enough time the second record have been released, Chicago’s Strike It! Records got released the very first record within the U.S., accompanied by a discharge of the next record in 1996. Joe Cassidy relocated to Chicago in 1997 with a new group of collaborators started focus on Butterfly Child’s third record and masterpiece, Soft Explosives, that was released on Strike It! in past due 1998. Following discharge from the record, Cassidy retired the band’s name, though he held writing and documenting songs. No more Butterfly Kid produces surfaced until 2012’s “NO MORE Surviving in Your Darkness” one was issued with the Dell’Orso label. Cassidy have been focusing on a Butterfly Kid retrospective compilation when he was approached by Dell’Orso’s Man Sirman and asked to accomplish the one. That resulted in Cassidy documenting the record Futures, which arrived in past due 2015.
