Admiral T

French dancehall singer Admiral T was created Christy Campbell in March 29, 1981, in Guadeloupe, French Western Indies. A lifelong enthusiast from the pioneering reggae of Bob Marley and Peter Tosh, he also utilized affects spanning from Caribbean zouk to salsa to traditional African music. At 16 he became a member of the DJ collective Karukéra AUDIO SYSTEM, debuting over the 1997 LP Rapide and credit scoring a 2000 strike with “Gwadada.” In mid-2003, Admiral T exited the KSS to support a solo profession, channeling the heart of his local Creole lifestyle for his debut record, Mozaik Kreyol. Originally released over the Western Indian label Don’s Music, the record demonstrated a cult sensation and was reissued via the main label Universal within the fall of 2004. After starring in Jean-Claude Flammand’s 2005 feature film Nèg Maron, Admiral T released his sophomore work, Toucher l’Horizon, a calendar year later. He made an appearance once again on film in ’09 2009 in Flammand’s following feature Le Mur du Silence. His third record, Instinct Admiral, found its way to 2010, accompanied by Encounter B in 2012.
