Fences

Fences may be the nom de plume of Chris Mansfield, a Berklee graduate using a penchant for casual pop music and downcast lyrics. Acquiring his stage name from an August Wilson play, Mansfield transferred to the Pacific Northwest after university and began producing a name for himself in Seattle. His bittersweet music ultimately caught the hearing of Sara Quin, half from the Canadian duo Tegan and Sara, and Mansfield shortly discovered himself at Quin’s studio room in Vancouver, where he spent ten times documenting his full-length debut, Fences. In 2014, Mansfield shipped Fences’ sophomore record, Lesser Oceans, including the one “Arrows,” offering Macklemore and Ryan Lewis.
