Jeannie Robertson

The ancient ballads of Scotland were preserved through the singing of Jeannie Robertson. Her unaccompanied recordings for Alan Lomax in November 1953 had been initially released within Columbia Records’s series Globe Library of Folk and Primitive Music. The 18-tune record was reissued as The Queen Among the Heather in 1998. The next year, Adam Porter and Herschel Gower’s reserve Emergent Vocalist, Transformative Voice, formulated with a biography, folklore, dental background, ethnomusicology, and 80 music from Robertson’s repertoire, was released.
