Bob Crowder

b. Robert Henry Crowder, 1912, USA. Through the early 30s Crowder performed tenor saxophone with several territory bands based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Then transferred to Chicago where he performed in big rings led by Horace Henderson, Earl Hines among others, and in little groupings with Coleman Hawkins. Although carrying on to try out, his profession decision to stay in Chicago rather than tour held him in the sight and knowing of jazz viewers. A protected and reliable participant, Crowder’s are a section guy is normally beyond reproach.
