b. 11 Might 1924, Turin, Italy. Valdambrini learnt the trumpet and violin as a kid and examined at Turin Conservatory. He caused a number of regional groupings in the 40s and performed within a jam program with Rex Stewart in 1948. He produced a quintet with saxophonist Gianni Basso in 1955; this music group has played in a variety of guises intermittently through to the later 80s. It is definitely perhaps one of the most highly regarded Italian bands, where Valdambrini has had the opportunity to show a fantastic technique in the bop-orientated playing he favours. He in addition has worked with different big rings including those of Lionel Hampton and Maynard Ferguson. In 1967 and 1968 he became a member of Duke Ellington’s Orchestra for concerts in Milan. Since 1972 he in addition has played with the tv screen Orchestra of Rome.
