Los Calchakis

Performing on 19 tools, Los Calchakis provides expanded over the Spanish-Incan music traditions from the Andes Mountains. Led by lyricist, vocalist, flute, and percussion participant Hector Miranda, the Buenos Aires-based quintet continues to be among Argentina’s most heralded rings. The group received a esteemed award in the Academy Charles Cros in 1971 and performed the Mikis Theodorakis-penned soundtrack of Costa-Gravas’ film Condition of Seige. Although they stay rooted in traditional music, Los Calchakis concentrates almost solely on original materials. Their lengthy set of hits consist of such music as “Eldorado,” “Mundo Nuevo,” “Hombre Libre,” and “Puerto de Palos.”
