John Marshall

b. 28 August 1941, Isleworth, Middlesex, Britain. Marshall is among the many amazing drummers Britain provides produced, equally effective, flexible and dependable in rock and roll, jazz or fusion. He performed at college, but became even more heavily associated with music while reading mindset at school. He examined drums privately with Allan Ganley and Philly Joe Jones, and caused Alexis Korner’s Blues Included (1964), Graham Collier (1965-70), Nucleus (which he was a creator member with Ian Carr in 1969, also to which he came back in 1982), Mike Gibbs, Jack port Bruce (1971-72), and, in Feb 1972, he started his long-term account of Soft Machine. On departing the music group he became a member of Eberhard Weber’s Colors (1977-81). He is a regular associate of John Surman over a long time, and in addition has caused Michael Garrick, Keith Tippett, Chris McGregor, John McLaughlin, John Taylor, Graham Relationship, Mike Westbrook, Tubby Hayes, Jaspar Vehicle’t Hof, Kenny Wheeler, Gil Evans, Alan Skidmore, Ronnie Scott, Arild Andersen and many more, including those within the contemporary traditional field and in program work.
