Johannes Enders

Saxophonist Johannes Enders is really a diverse, distinctive participant who spent some time working with artists while diverse while Donald Byrd, Roy Hargrove, Lester Bowie, and post-rock group the Notwist. Created in a little town near Munich, Enders found the sax for the very first time at 14, and continued to traditional music studies in the Munich Conservatory. Upon graduation in 1988, he continuing his research with Dave Liebman and Jerry Bergonzi in the Jazz Institute of Graz in Austria. While there, Enders received first prize in the International Jazz Competition in 1989 and 1991. 1992 noticed Enders recommended for any scholarship or grant at New York’s New College where he continuing his jazz research with luminaries like Branford Marsalis and Jimmy Cobb. During this time period, Enders began documenting with performers like Joe Baudisch, Peter O’Mara, Joe Locke, and Harry Pepl, and produced his debut like a bandleader on 1992’s Reflections of South Africa, that was documented in Capetown. 1993’s Discoveries was his first documenting for Enja Information, who also released 1998’s Bright Evenings and 1999’s House Ground.
