8½ Souvenirs

Although located in Austin, Tx, the retro-swing outfit 8½ Souvenirs drew a lot of their inspiration from Western artists like Django Reinhardt, Serge Gainsbourg and Nino Rota; led by French expatriate vocalist/guitarist Olivier Giraud, the group was shaped in 1988, and originally also comprised bassist Todd Wulfmeyer and drummer Adam Berlin. Classically qualified pianist Glover Gill was another to join; using the appearance of vocalist Juliana Sheffield, 8½ Souvenirs’ lineup was full, and in 1995 they documented their debut LP Happy Ft. Sauvonica, documented with fresh vocalist Chrysta Bell, adopted in 1998, and a yr later on the group came back with Twisted Desire.
