Something to Burn

Named like a jab in the music industry — specifically, to poke fun at its inability to restrain consumers from burning up CDs — alternative steel strap Something to Burn off originally began with guitarist Jimmy Norman and twin brothers Shawn Ballard (drums) and Jeff Ballard (bass.) After stints with several lead performers (including Toryn Green, who continued to displace Bret Scallions in Gas, and Vinnie Lombardo, who departed to front side Creating a Better Spaceship) the group experienced an auditioning procedure, eventually choosing vocalist Greg Wayne. Performing frequently at Hollywood night clubs within the Sunset Remove, the band developed their position to a specialist level, as they say. After representing the U.S. within the Hong Kong finals from the “Globe Battle from the Rings” they came into and became finalists in Acoustic guitar Center’s “Tour with Mötley Crüe” competition, making the very best six from 8,000 rings. It was at this time, however, that these were disqualified when it had been discovered that they currently had a documenting contract, agreed upon to Scott Weiland’s label Softdrive Information. Content with the thought of playing displays making use of their heroes Rock Temple Pilots rather than the Crüe, Something to Burn off pressed on unfazed, and amidst schedules with Weiland, STP, and Dark Rebel Motorcycle Membership, Transitions was documented in ’09 2009.
