Mel & Tim

Chicago soul duo Mel & Tim were cousins — Mel Hardin and Tim McPherson — who in fact hailed from Holly Springs, MS, and produced their way to Chicago via St. Louis. These were found out by Gene Chandler and authorized to his Bamboo label in 1969, if they scored a high Ten pop and R&B solitary using the good-humored traditional “Backfield in Movement.” The follow-up, “Great Guys Only Get in the films,” provided the title for his or her first recording and strike the R&B Best 20 later on that 12 months. Mel & Tim consequently relocated to Stax, where they got a second Best Five R&B smash using the ballad “Beginning YET AGAIN” (also the name tabs on their second recording). Mel & Tim performed in the past due-1972 charity concert Wattstax and had been presented in the documentary film from the same name, performing “I MIGHT Not Be WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE.” Their self-titled last album made an appearance in 1973, and the cousins faded out in the music scene.
