Mary Bergin

The tin whistle traditions of Ireland have already been preserved with the playing and teaching of Dublin-born Mary Bergin. A previous person in the Green Linnet Ceili Music group, Ceoltoiri Laigheann, and DeDanaan, Bergin is constantly on the explore her musical origins with Dordan, a Baroque/traditional Celtic ensemble she founded in the first ’90s. Bergin’s like of traditional music was inherited from her parents. Her mom played traditional and traditional fiddle while her dad performed melodeon. Although she in the beginning analyzed violin and piano, she discovered her organic musical tone of voice after switching towards the tin whistle and, later on, the flute. As a young child, she was influenced from the music that she noticed during holidays in Region Clare and Region Waterford. Associated with her sister, Antoinette McKenna, on harp, Bergin started playing at pub periods. After touring Britain and america with Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann, she became a member of with flautist Mick Hands, fiddlers Tommy Individuals and Liam Rowsome, and accordionist Johnny McMahon to create the Green Linnet Ceili Music group, with whom she toured for five years. After carrying on her musical education as an associate of Ceoltoiri Laigheann, Bergin was asked to become listed on internationally renowned Irish trad folk group DeDanaan. She performed using the group for an extremely short time. Bergin maintained a minimal profile before early ’90s when she helped type Dordan and started writing her very own tunes.
