Goanna

Although formed in 1977 by guitarist Shane Howard, it had been the 1982 hit one “Solid Rock and roll” and album Spirit of Place that gave Goanna nationwide prominence in Australia. Keyboardist and vocalist Rose Bygrave became a member of the music group in 1979, with Warwick Harwood (business lead electric guitar, vocals), Ian Morrison (vocals, harmonica), Carl Smith (bass), and Gary Crothall (drums), documented the indie 12″ EP Livin’ in the Razor’s Advantage. Goanna agreed upon to WEA in 1981 and backed Adam Taylor’s Australian tour. Despite reluctance from WEA, the group’s determining single, “Solid Rock and roll,” premiered in Oct 1982, a damning rock and roll song regarding the Western european invasion of Australia. A shock strike, it peaked at number 3 in the nationwide Australian graphs and would afterwards show up on the 1989 Building Bridges record with many other performers. Their debut full-length record, Nature of Place, premiered in Dec 1982 and reached number 3 in the nationwide graphs. An ever-changing lineup noticed Harwood keep the music group and support vocalist Suzie Dickinson sign up for immediately after its discharge.
