Using a maxed-out and skuzzy lo-fi sound that could qualify them within the arbitrarily named “shitgaze” genre — along with likeminded bands Times New Viking and Psychedelic Horseshit — Eat Skull incorporated more of a hardcore method of the sound formula than their contemporaries if they began in 2006, founded by Rob Enbom (Hospitals, Hole Class, and Hale Zukas) and Rod Meyer (also an associate of Hospitals, aswell as the ’80s hardcore bands Necromancy and Puppet Show). Both matched up with bassist Scott Simmons and drummer Beren Ekine-Huett in Portland, OR, and with just a limited quantity of practice under their belts, the bandmembers documented two 7″ information and a cassette EP, and began playing shows around. Tom Lax of Siltbreeze agreed upon these to his label following the melody “Dead Households” captured his attention, as well as the band’s initial official full-length, Ill to Death, implemented in June of 2008. 2009 noticed the discharge of Crazy and Inside, nonetheless it wasn’t until 2013 that they resurfaced with third record III, released over the Woodsist label.
