Antonio Florio

Italian conductor Antonio Florio can be a composer and musicologist. He begun to research music in his hometown of Bari, acquiring lessons in cello and piano, and learning structure with Nino Rota. He also had taken a pastime in early music, learning period equipment and performance procedures from the Baroque period. He founded the Cappella della Piet? de’ Turchini, today known as I Turchini, in 1987. Florio is experienced in 17th and 18th hundred years Neapolitan music, researching functions of the time and executing neglected operas by Francesco Provenzale, Francesco Boerio, Gaetano Latilla, Leonardo Vinci, Giovanni Paisiello, Francesco Cavalli, Gian Francesco de Majo, and Pasquale Anfossi, among various other neglected composers. Being a instructor, Florio has trained professional classes and workshops at the Center de Musique Baroque, Versailles, the Fondation Royaumont, as well as the Toulouse Conservatoire. He’s also the seat of chamber music on the Conservatorio di Musica San Pietro a Majella in Naples.
