African Music Machine

The African Music Machine was an eight-piece funk outfit from New Orleans led by bassist/songwriter Louis Villery. They got their begin as a residence music group for the Jewel/Paula label axis, playing on information by famous brands Fontella Bass, Small Johnny Taylor, Roscoe Robinson, Ted Taylor, Tommie Small, and vocalist/maker Bobby Patterson, amongst others. From 1972-1974, they slice several of their very own singles for the Patterson-owned Spirit Power subsidiary. In 2001, Villery set up a new edition from the African Music Machine and released an eponymous record on Singular.
