Joseito Mateo

Dominican Joseito Mateo (blessed José Tamares Mateo) became “Un Rey del Merengue” (merengue’s ruler) following he successfully performed live the nationwide music from his indigenous land, a method developed within the middle-19th century being a folk dance before being regarded as a significant tropical design. In Cuba, Alberto Beltran presented him to La Sonora Matancera, among various other local rings and artists. Furthermore, Joseito Mateo became the very first leading vocalist within a music group called Un Gran Combo, producing their debut in 1962 using the discharge of Meneame los Mangos.
