Italian avant-prog ensemble Yugen came together by the end of 2004 beneath the impetus of guitarist Francesco Zago and music festival organizer and AltrOck label head Marcello Marinone. Zago envisioned an organization uniting prog rock and roll and chamber music components, and began composing compositions for Yugen, whose account by early 2005 included, furthermore to Zago, keyboardist Paolo Botta, reed players Markus Stauss and Peter Schmid, and bassist Stephan Brunner. Also present over the documenting are drummer Kerman and mandolinist Leddi on two monitors each, and previous Univers No bassist Man Segers is highlighted on one. Various other participating musicians consist of Simone Beneventi (an upgraded for Massimo Mazza) on vibraphone, marimba, and glockenspiel; Giacomo Cella on bassoon; Enrica Di Bastiano on harp; Michele Epifani on harpsichord; and Alberto Roveroni on drums. The AltrOck label’s batch of Sept 2010 produces also included another record which Yugen made an appearance: A_Live with a 21st hundred years edition of Picchio dal Pozzo, an Italian group that started in the middle-’70s playing in a method heavily influenced with the United kingdom Canterbury picture before relocating an RIO path. A_Live was documented live on the 2008 AltrOck celebration in Milan, and includes a quartet edition of Picchio dal Pozzo (including primary associates Aldo De Scalzi and Paolo Griguolo) with support from Yugenites Zago, Botta, Cavedon, Cipollone, and Indicationò. In Sept 2011 a septet edition of Yugen (Zago, Botta, Cipollone, and Fasoli along with Jacopo Costa on marimba and vibraphone, Matteo Lorito on bass, and Michele Salgarello on drums) performed on the Rock and roll in Opposition celebration in Carmaux, France; the established was documented over the record Mirrors, released by AltrOck later the following yr.
