Young Lords

Although they share their name having a longstanding Puerto Rican nationalist group, Young Lords are thoroughly American, combining the rootsy twang of Southern rock and roll using the hip urban swagger from the band’s native NY. Created in 2006 by many New School University or college classmates, the Lords in the beginning played nation music, restricting themselves to acoustic devices along the way. Lead vocalist Blair Vehicle Nort, drummer Anthony LaMarca, bassist Maxwell Kamins, and guitarists Reed Vehicle Nort and Adam Gerard quickly embraced a louder design, however, with classic rock & move adding heft towards the band’s nation foundation. The mixture helped Youthful Lords secure displays alongside the Fratellis as well as the Shys, while their stylized, retro-minded appearance gained them spreads in Nylon, Elle, as well as the Italian branch of Men’s Vogue. A lot of the public’s concentrate remained around the music, though, and Youthful Lords produced their studio room debut with 2008’s Rodeo Tunes.
