Yoni Wolf

A multi-faceted alternative hip-hop and indie rock and roll artist who co-founded the favorite Los Angeles-based independent record label Anticon, Yoni Wolf was created Jonathan Avram Wolf in 1979 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Elevated inside a Messianic Jewish home, Wolf captured the music insect in his 1st year at senior high school after procuring a vintage 4-monitor recorder from his father’s synagogue. Honing his creation chops with a constant blast of drumming, rapping, and poetry, Wolf going into his university years with both materials and encounter. While studying artwork at the College or university of Cincinnati, he fulfilled potential Anticon co-founder Adam Drucker (AKA Doseone) and began a live improvisational group known as Apogee — Wolf and Drucker works together for quite some time under several monikers. The set released their debut LP collectively, IT ISN’T Easy Becoming…, beneath the name Greenthink in 1998. Another recording, 1999’s Blindfold, noticed the duo develop right into a three-piece by adding producer Unusual Nosdam, and adopt a fresh name, Clouddead. That same calendar year Wolf began launching material beneath the name Why?. After issuing another single LP as Why?, 2003’s Oaklandazulasylum, Wolf made a decision to convert the project right into a music group, adding sibling Josiah on drums, guitarist Matt Meldon, and tool guy Doug McDiarmid. The recently minted group released their debut studio room record, Elephant Eyelash, in 2005. The band’s sophomore outing, Alopecia, fell in 2008, accompanied by Eskimo Snow in ’09 2009. 2012’s Mumps, Etc. was preceded with the EP Sod within the Seed. A devoted collaborator and manufacturer, Wolf provides released materials with Reaching Calm and Hymie’s Cellar, and it has collaborated with Fog and Serengeti. Wolf issued the LP Testarossa using the latter beneath the moniker Yoni & Geti in early 2016.
