Yob

With songs regularly averaging upward of 10 minutes (and sometimes just as much as 20 and beyond), Portland, OR’s YOB are clearly not really a commercial rock band, but instead fuse components of doom, sludge, space, and progressive rock into interesting combinations in order to belie their bloated girth. Founded in 2000 by vocalist/guitarist Mike Scheidt, with bassist Lowell Iles and drummer Gabe Morley, YOB released 2002’s Elaborations of Carbon before admitting a fresh rhythm portion of Isamu Sato (bass) and Travis Foster (drums), and fast-delivering ensuing attempts Catharsis (2003), The Illusion of Movement (2004), as well as the Unreal Never Resided (2005). Each garnered even more acclaim compared to the last, and the ultimate pair shown that development by locating the music group plucked from small regional label exile from the historic Metal Cutting tool Records.
