A classical and pop cross built round the skills of instrumentalists Rob Moose, Nadia Sirota, Clarice Jensen, Alex Sopp, Hideaki Aomori, and CJ Camerieri, NY City’s yMusic utilize their particular set up of violin, viola, cello, flute, clarinet, and trumpet in both chamber music and indie pop worlds, collaborating with performers like Dirty Projectors, St. Vincent, the Country wide, Bon Iver, and My Brightest Gemstone, and carrying out their own unique instrumental functions in nontraditional traditional configurations. The sextet released its debut recording, Gorgeous Mechanical, in 2011 via New Amsterdam Information, which continued to win PERIODS New York’s #1 Classical Record of the entire year, adopted in 2014 by Richard Reed Parry: Music for Center and Breathing (a collaboration using the Arcade Open fire multi-instrumentalist) as well as the Child Lux-produced Balance Complications, the latter which contains compositions by Timo Andres, Marcos Balter, Tag Dancigers, Nico Muhly, Andrew Norman, Sufjan Stevens, and Jeremy Turner.
