Shaped in 2007, Y Culture certainly are a collaborative effort between Boston rapper Understanding and Washington, D.C., DJ/maker Damu the Fudgemunk. Each one of the two had gained his continue the impartial hip-hop picture — Understanding like a longstanding mainstay in Boston’s rap underground and person in Electric Organization, and Damu as the DJ for 2006 underground breakout Panacea — but using their debut, Travel at the Own Speed (2007), this MC/DJ collaboration stood out among the resurgence of back-to-basics hip-hop organizations cropping up through the entire 2000s. Though Y Culture had been a trans-coastal cooperation, the recording mirrored the old-school visual known to emerge from Boston from performers like Mr. Lif and Edan, but Damu used more cool twists and easy spirit textures for Insight’s eager mind and flexible mike abilities.
