X-Legged Sally

An experimental, Zappa-influenced group from Belgium, X-Legged Sally’s regular membership included Peter Vermeersch, Paul Belgrado, Pierre Vervloesem, Danny Vehicle Hoeck, Peter Vandenberghe, Bart Maris, and Michel Mast. In 1990 the music group contributed a monitor towards the Live in the Knitting Manufacturing plant, Vol. 4 collection, which led to an ongoing loose affiliation with the brand new York downtown picture. Pursuing three albums in the Sub Rosa label — two of these produced by Costs Laswell — XLS released their American debut, The Property from the Large Dwarfs, in 1995. Terminated, a live record offering music from many of their prior CDs, premiered in 1996, and Bereft of the Blissful Union, an record of music performed by XLS as well as the Smith Quartet to accompany today’s dance performance, appeared the following season. In 1998 Peter Vermeersch produced Level Earth Culture, an avant big music group featuring a amount of XLS alumni. Level Earth Culture — or FES — performed, toured, and documented throughout the initial decade from the 21st hundred years and beyond.
