Wolff Heintz

The positions held by this German organist and composer are the cathedral organist in Magdeburg, vice-Kapellmeister and second organist in the chapel of Cardinel Albrecht of Brandenburg as well as the organist at the marketplace church of St Mary in Halle. Heintz added melodies (hymn-tunes) towards the “Ein New Gesangbuchlin geistlicher Lieder” and lieder, six which are extant. The ones that survive support the foundational track in the tenor tone of voice shifting towards homophony. Heintz’s “Laudate Domine” was made up as a cannon with the many entrances occuring four breves aside. Duet passages happen regularly in the types of Heintz’s making it through sacred lieder.
