Wisdom Tooth

The industrial junk-rock trio Wisdom Tooth formed in the remnants of Magic Area, an Austin, TX-based band formed in the mid-’80s by guitarist Ed Greer and bassist Steve Marsh. Pursuing Magic Room’s demise, Greer and Marsh continuing tinkering with homemade musical instruments, building guitars and basses out of chunks of lumber strung with piano cable and springs. After teaming with drummer Dave Liles and placing him up with a package comprised of outdated gas cans, noticed blades, and essential oil drums, Wisdom Teeth honed their loud, primitive audio by playing at such different locations as the Knitting Stock, the Lollapalooza tour, as well as the Whitney Artwork Museum before issuing their debut LP, Mental Floss, in 1997.
