Purveyors of doom similar to greats like Electric powered Wizard, Richmond, Virginia’s Windhand were formed in ’09 2009 by people Aschiah Bogdan, Parker Chandler, Dorthia Cottrell, Garrett Morris, and Ryan Wolfe. Mixing shuddering low-end fuzz and pounding rhythms with Cottrell’s ethereal vocals, the music group recalls the audio of traditional doom while adding a fresh dimension to 1 of metal’s heaviest subgenres. In March of 2012, Windhand released their self-titled debut, ultimately gaining the interest of Relapse Information. The label authorized the music group in 2013, and in the springtime released Reflection from the Adverse, a split documenting with fellow Virginia doom sludgers Cough.
