Willie Love

Harpist Grain Miller, recognized to his legion of enthusiasts over the Delta seeing that Sonny Youngster Williamson, initial encountered pianist Willie Like in Greenville, MS, in 1942. The talented set played frequently on Nelson Road, the main move of the Dark portion of Greenville, musically intertwining with exceptional empathy. And it had been Williamson who brought Like in to the fold at Trumpet Information (the label in charge of Love’s entire documented legacy being a head). Like was deeply inspired by Leroy Carr and similarly conversant on boogies and down-in-the-alley blues. He performed piano on many of Sonny Boy Williamson’s Trumpet periods, but Appreciate didn’t make use of his pal on some of his very own 1951-1953 schedules for the Jackson, MS, company. Love’s debut, “Take It all Easy, Baby,” was a rollicking boogie outing, and he implemented it up using the similarly sturdy “Everybody’s Angling,” “Vanity Dresser Boogie,” and “Nelson Road Blues.” Love’s last program in Apr of 1953 discovered him backed with a Light bassist and drummer — certainly a rarity for the period. Four months afterwards, Love, who got long experienced from alcoholism, was useless.
