Willie Hightower

Willie Hightower was an early on fixture in Chicago jazz. The spouse of pianist Lottie Hightower, he led a music group in New Orleans on / off during 1908-20 including one known as the American Celebrities. After shifting to Chicago in 1921, Hightower used a number of obscure organizations and was presented with Carroll Dickerson’s Orchestra and his wife’s big music group (Lottie E. Hightower’s Night time Hawks). He performed in local displays through the 1930’s and gigged with Andrew Hilaire in 1933 before retiring from music to function fulltime in the Music artists Union. Willie Hightower documented two amounts (“Boar Hog Blues” and “Press Me”) during his just set like a innovator in 1927.
