Willie Hatcher

b. 28 Oct 1909, nr. Clarksdale, Mississippi, USA, d. USA. Hatcher’s family members transferred to Arkansas in 1916 and after he wedded in 1927 he relocated to St. Louis. Self-taught in the mandolin Hatcher performed and sang blues and in addition some gospel music. Within the 30s he teamed up with washboard participant George Smith and performed within the St. Louis region. In the past due 40s he transferred to Chicago, Illinois, where he performed for an interval with guitarist One-Legged Sam. Hatcher documented for Bluebird Information and among his produces were ‘Therefore Unkind’, ‘Crawdad’, Garbage Guy Blues’, Waiting SIMPLY FOR You’ and ‘They’re Mean To Me’. Other performers with whom Hatcher caused over time included Robert Nighthawk, Speckled Crimson and John Lee ‘Sonny Youngster’ Williamson.
