Willie Dunn

Using a Micmac mom along with a Scottish father, Willie Dunn has embraced the music traditions of both cultures. Originally inspired with the burgeoning American folk music picture of the past due-1950s, he’s more and more turned his concentrate to individuals of Canada’s First Country, composing and performing music about their lives and background being a people. A recently available tune prompted First Nation young people to stay in college. Dunn provides skillfully well balanced music and film. His video for his melody, “Ballad of Crawfoot”, in line with the lifestyle of Blackfoot key, Crowfoot (1830-1890), in 1991, was the initial music video stated in Canada. Following productions have consist of an enviromental documentary, The Eagle Task, along with a documentary in the First Countries languages, The Tone of voice FROM THE Land. Recording because the early-1970s, Dunn donated the proceeds of his second record to First Countries organization, White Root base Of Tranquility, publisher of First Countries journal, Akwesasne Records. His 1999 record, Metallic, featured music that were written a lot more than 2 decades before. Dunn’s tune, “Kid Of SUNLIGHT”, was included in First Countries band, Kashtin.
