Loose-knit folk-noir confederation the Willard Offer Conspiracy was shaped in Boston in 1995 by singer Robert Fisher and guitarist Paul Austin, longtime collaborators who previously teamed within the noise-rock outfit the Flower Tamers. Asked to test-drive a friend’s brand-new home recording studio room, the duo recruited guitarist Sean O’Brien and within times completed focus on the debut Willard Offer Conspiracy record, 3 AM Weekend at Lot of money Otto’s, released on Fisher’s very own Dahlia Information imprint in 1996. Following that the group advanced into an ever-changing collective of some 20 regional musicians, gathering in a variety of numbers every week for informal jam classes; guitarist Wayne Apt, violist David Michael Curry, mandolinist Erich Groat and bassist Matt Griffin became a member of the primary trio of Fisher, Austin and O’Brien to record the WGC’s 1998 Rykodisc/Sluggish River debut, Soaring Low. The live Weevils within the Captain’s Biscuit as well as the demonstration collection Radio Free of charge WGC preceded the 1999 launch from the outstanding Mojave. Everything’s Good surfaced 2 yrs later.
