Performing “collage rock and roll” rather than college rock and roll, Boston’s Wicked Farleys contain guitarist/vocalist Michael Brodeur, guitarist/vocalist/keyboardist Vanessa Downing (formerly of Samuel and Junction), guitarist/keyboardist Rob Laasko (also an associate from the Swirlies), bassist Michael Cory and drummer/keyboardist Ken Bernard. Ken Theory, the group’s 1997 debut seven-inch for Big Best Records, presented their elaborate, droning audio, which combines the dreaminess from the Swirlies and My Bloody Valentine using the intricacy of math-rock and the energy of punk. Their initial full-length work Sentinel & Organization made an appearance in 1998, accompanied by the Continual Curiosity EP and Madonna in 1999. The Wicked Farleys following resurfaced in early 2000 with ENSURE IT IS It.
