Free of charge jazz drummer Whit Dickey initial stepped in to the spotlight being a leader using the release of his Transonic album from Aum Fidelity in 1998. 2 yrs afterwards, Wobbly Rail released his Big Best discharge. Previously, he was most widely known for his solid use Matthew Shipp and David S. Ware, with whom Dickey divide in 1996. Early the next season, the drummer started composing the functions that might be included on Transonic. Dickey penned basically two tracks, “Kinesis” and “Second Epidermis,” for the collection, and he also had a submit those with assistance from his fellow music artists on the record. The initial compositions provided a nod towards the impact of “Criss Combination” and “Off Small” through the renowned Thelonious Monk. Dickey documented the record using Rob Dark brown on flute and alto saxophone and Chris Lightcap on bass. In 2001, Dickey documented six of his compositions with Mat Maneri, Shipp, and Dark brown beneath the name Nommonsemble, and released Life Routine through AUM Fidelity. A season later, he documented as an associate of Trio Ahxoloxha on Prophet Moon, offering guitarist Joe Morris and alto saxophonist Rob Dark brown. Dickey then extended the trio right into a quartet with trumpeter Roy Campbell and released a small number of albums, including 2004’s Coalescence, 2005’s Within a Heartbeat, and 2006’s Sacred Surface. In ’09 2009, he matched with multi-instrumentalist Daniel Carter and pianist Eri Yamamoto for Introduction. Also for this period, he became a member of pianist Shipp for some albums that culminated in 2014’s Duke Ellington homage To Duke. 2 yrs afterwards, he collaborated with cornetist Kirke Knuffke for the duo record Fierce Silence. In 2017, Dickey once more reunited with Shipp and Maneri for the trio program Vessel in Orbit.
