Soulful digital indie trio Damp shaped in Brooklyn around 2012. Ahead of that, music artists Joe Valle and Marty Sulkow, alongside vocalist Kelly Zutrau, experienced recorded several casual demos collectively while these were all going to school in NY before Valle break up for LA and Zutrau visited Rhode Isle. The three close friends reconvened in Brooklyn and started employed in earnest around the material that could eventually feature on the debut EP. Through Zutrau’s warm vocals and an affinity for ’90s R&B, they injected some silent soul to their minimalist, digital indie pop. Their understated self-titled EP, a four-song assortment of mild breakup songs, premiered by Neon Platinum in Oct 2013 to instant hype. Some CMJ performances adopted and they became a member of CHVRCHES for any string of displays aswell. The nuanced singles “Deadwater” and “You’re the very best” were released in 2015 as Damp ready their debut recording for Columbia. NOT was ultimately released in early 2016.
