We Were Promised Jetpacks

Fifty percent bracing post-punk and fifty percent tuneful indie pop, Glasgow’s We Were Promised Jetpacks feature vocalist/guitarist Adam Thompson, guitarist Michael Palmer, bassist Sean Smith, and drummer Darren Lackie. The group produced as the four had been still participating in an Edinburgh senior high school, where they gained a battle from the rings contest using their initial gig. After graduation, We Had been Guaranteed Jetpacks relocated to Glasgow, and their audio matured aswell, moving from basic song buildings and clean guitars to a far more ambitious, anthemic strategy. These were also motivated by fellow Glaswegians the Twilight Sad and Frightened Rabbit, and these affects could be noticed over the three-song demonstration the band documented, which received airplay on BBC, XFM, and Q Radio in the U.K., and KEXP in the us. In 2008, We Had been Guaranteed Jetpacks toured as Frightened Rabbit’s starting act; that calendar year, they were agreed upon by NOUVEAU RICHE BUSINESSMAN Records (also house to both Frightened Rabbit as well as the Twilight Sad). In ’09 2009, We Had been Guaranteed Jetpacks released two singles, Calm Small Voices and ROLL-UP Your Sleeves, before their full-length These Four Wall space arrived that summer season. They adopted up another year using the EP THE FINAL Place You’ll Appear, which presented some unreleased paths and even more orchestral rearrangements of a number of the tracks from their earlier recording. In 2011, the music group came back with another full-length work, the greater traveling In the Pit from the Abdomen. While they toured to get the recording, they documented E Rey: Reside in Philadelphia, a live recording named following the band’s tour supervisor that premiered in early 2014. Throughout that time in addition they documented their third recording, Unravelling, with maker Paul Savage, which found its way to October 2014. Soon prior to the album’s launch, We Were Guaranteed Jetpacks added multi-instrumentalist Stuart McGachan as the band’s 5th member.
