We Start Fires

Motivated by ’80s brand-new wave, ’90s indie, and a wholesome dose of D.We.Con. feminism, Darlington, England’s We Begin Fires produced when vocalist/guitarist Becky’s prior group, Venus in Furs, disbanded and she started using keyboardist/vocalist Melissa. After the pair linked to bassist/vocalist Nikki and drummer Ashley, they truly became a full-fledged music group. We Begin Fires first produced a splash in 2002, launching their debut EP, How exactly to Be a Female, independently Head Gal label and executing frequently, including schedules at that year’s Ladyfest London. The music group continued to try out and record, and in 2004, their initial full-length, Captured Redhanded, arrived. The next year, We Begin Fires transferred to Marquis Cha Cha! Information for the Strut one, and toured with Nine Dark Alps and Bromheads Coat. The band started 2006 by launching a single, Sizzling hot Steel/Hipshake, and playing South by Southwest. We Begin Fires also kicked from the Membership Strut dance membership that calendar year, which featured shows from the Longer Blondes as well as the Motorettes. In addition they made an appearance on What MOST OF US Desire, a 2006 compilation released by Dance to the air, the label of ¡Forwards, Russia!’s guitarist, Whiskas.
