Washboard Doc

b. Joseph Doctor, 8 Sept 1911, Charleston, SC, USA, d. 16 Sept 1988, Brooklyn, NEW YORK, NY, USA. A road musician from his appearance in NY in 1935, Washboard Doc was within the fringes of dark musical existence thereafter, declaring to have documented alongside Ralph Willis and Sonny Terry. He certainly offered support for Alec Seward, and in addition played, with differing examples of appropriateness, on many Victoria Spivey albums. Total albums by his trio, offering Lucky (b. Cab Lucky) and Adobe flash (b. John Whitner), resulted in a European check out in 1980.
