Warren Wolf

Baltimore’s Warren Wolf can be an acclaimed jazz vibraphonist known for his sophisticated post-bop design. Given birth to in Baltimore in 1979, Wolf 1st started playing music at age group three, learning vibraphone, marimba, drums, and piano along with his dad, a instructor and novice musician. Concentrating on traditional music in his youngsters, Wolf went to the Peabody Preparatory College, during which period he also required lessons with previous Baltimore Symphony Orchestra member Leo LePage. It wasn’t until his teenagers, while going to the Baltimore College for the Arts, that Wolf became progressively thinking about jazz. After senior high school, he gained his undergraduate music level at Berklee University of Music in Boston, learning privately with vibraphonist Dave Samuels. Also during his period at Berklee, Wolf befriended trumpeter, classmate, and long term collaborator Jeremy Pelt. Pelt launched the vibraphonist to additional fellow Berklee notables, including Kendrick Scott, Walter Smith III, and trumpeter Jason Palmer, with whom Wolf would co-lead a music group at local golf club Wally’s for some of his amount of time in Boston. After graduating in 2001, Wolf continuing to gig around Boston, while also operating like a percussion trainer at Berklee. In 2005 he came back to Baltimore, where he quickly founded himself as an in-demand performer and bandleader. Being a sideman, Wolf provides performed and/or documented with such luminaries as Bobby Watson, Christian McBride, Wynton Marsalis, Christian Scott, Robert Glasper, Esperanza Spalding, among others. As a single artist, Wolf produced his debut in 2005 using the separately produced work Incredible Jazz Vibes. Then agreed upon with Mack Avenue Information and released his sophomore record, 2011’s Warren Wolf. 2 yrs later he came back using the quartet record Wolfgang, offering performances from pianist Benny Green, bassist McBride, among others. In 2016 Wolf released Convergence, offering McBride, drummer Jeff “Tain” W, and pianist Brad Mehldau, and a visitor appearance by guitarist John Scofield.
