Walter Booker

Not really a flashy participant, Walter Booker was a trusted bassist and underrated stylist. His big build and capability to play well in the bass’ highest register shown his understanding of classic and contemporary strategies. He was also an above typical bowed soloist. Booker performed clarinet and alto sax in university using a concert music group. He started on bass within the provider. Booker caused Andrew Light in Washington after his release, playing within the JFK Quintet through the early ’60s. He afterwards caused Donald Byrd, Sonny Rollins, Ray Bryant, Artwork Farmer, Milt Jackson, and Chick Corea within the ’60s, before signing up for Cannonball Adderley. Booker is at Adderley’s music group from the past due ’60s until Adderley’s loss of life in 1975, frequently touring and documenting. In the being successful years, Booker performed and documented with famous brands Betty Carter, Nick Brignola, Billy Higgins, Richie Cole, Phil Woods, John Hicks, Pharoah Sanders, Nat Adderley, Arnett Cobb, and Clifford Jordan. He led the Walter Booker Quintet on the recording time for Mapleshade, Bookie’s Cookbook (2000), and will be noticed on digital-era reissues by Adderley, Sanders, Jordan, and many more.
