Tenor sax. Western world Coast participant who began great and bluesy, ventured in to the free of charge and wild, after that returned to his root base. Walter Benton started playing sax while participating in senior high school in LA. He spent 3 years within the military, then documented in 1954 with Kenny Clarke and in addition worked within a jam program with Potential Roach and Clifford Dark brown. Benton performed Afro-Latin jazz with Prez Prado from 1954-57, touring Asia in 1956. Then recorded being a soloist in Victor Feldman’s orchestra and along with his very own group in NY. He was area of the groundbreaking music created by Potential Roach, Julian Priester and Abbey Lincoln in 1960-61, but he came back to LA in 1961. Benton performed and documented with Gerald Wilson and John Anderson afterwards within the ’60s.
