Twin brothers Bjorn and Eric Sandberg, bassist Tag, and drummer Scott formed Wake the Leader in 2005 as the twins were students at Glasgow College or university. Informed by several shambly indie pop works through the ’80s and ’90s (the Go-Betweens, Arab Strap, and Orange Juice included in this), the group come up with several demos that welcomed evaluations to the RAISE YOUR VOICE Louds, Je Suis Pet, and the Discomfort to be Pure in mind. The music group was eventually found by Douglas MacIntyre and Ken McCluskey’s Electric powered Honey Information, a student-run label (manned with the music sector management learners of Glasgow’s Stow University) that obtained some interest in 1996 for launching Belle & Sebastian’s Tigermilk. Wake the President’s debut one on that label, “Sorrows for Clothing,” premiered in 2007; another one, “Keep in mind Fun,” arrived on Norman Information immediately after. In 2008 the singles captured the interest of BBC Radio 2’s Stuart Maconie and Tag Radcliffe; the singles had been placed into rotation, and each tune continued to gain the coveted name of single from the week. Wake the President’s debut full-length, You Can’t Modification That Boy, premiered in the U.K. as well as the States the next year, on Electric powered Honey and Magic Marker Information, respectively. They implemented it up in 2011 with an record entitled Zumutung! on WE ARE ABLE TO Still Picnic information.
