Wagons

Using a sound deeply rooted in the growling sounds of Johnny Cash and ZZ Top, Wagons capture the rambling country-rock from the American South, despite not surviving in the country, as well as america. Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, the group may be the brainchild of vocalist and songwriter Henry Wagons. Offering percussionists Tag “Tuckerbag” Dawson and Si “The Philanthropist” Francis, bassist Steve “Tranquility” Hassett, and guitarist Richard Blazé, the music group combines rowdy country-rock fuzz using a dramatic Nick Cave-inspired delivery, creating its take on nation music. After playing the Melbourne pub circuit, the music group produced its full-length debut in 2002 with Looking to get Home, accompanied by Draw Bloodstream in 2004 and Curse of Lightning in 2007. Wagons actually strike their stride with 2009’s Rise & Fall of Goodtown, which gained Age EG Honours for Greatest Group and Greatest Record. The band’s 2011 work, Rumble, Tremble and Tumble, was also its U.S. debut.
