Vreid

The Norwegian dark metal named Vreid (“wrath,” within their indigenous tongue) emerged from the embers from the critically acclaimed Windir, from then on group’s leader and chief songwriter, Terje “Valfar” Bakken, perished within a snowstorm while hiking over the remote countryside of his indigenous Sogndal. Unwilling to suitable the Windir name without their dropped comrade (and rightly therefore), as well as continue along that group’s folk-inspired dark metal path themselves, its making it through music artists, Sture Dingsøyr (vocals, electric guitar), Stian “Strom” Bakketeig (electric guitar), Jarle ‘Hváll’ Kvåle (bass), and Jørn “Steingrim” Holen (drums), thought we would start fresh rather. And so, following albums like Kraft (2004), Pitch Dark Brigade (2006), I Krig (2007), and Milorg (2009), have observed the group explore a broad gamut of dark metal styles, which range from primitive blackened thrash to experimental atmospherics typically bought at another end from the genre’s avant-garde. Hence, Vreid provides blazed its path, enabling Valfar’s unique eyesight to rest in dignified tranquility alongside Windir.
