Virginia Jetzt! surfaced in the forefront of a fresh era of German indie pop using its 2004 discovery LP, Anfänger. Founded in Brandenburg in the springtime of 1999, the group comprised vocalist Nino Skrotzki, guitarist Thomas Dörschel, bassist Mathias Hielscher, and drummer Angelo Gräbs. While their upbeat, dynamic pop obviously channeled American and English affects, Virginia Jetzt! happily embraced German lyrics, anticipating a pattern that could dominate German play the decade to check out. The quartet’s self-titled debut EP found its way to shops in 2000, implemented a year afterwards by Pophymnen. Relentless touring quickly nurtured a devout group of fans with the 2003 discharge of their full-length bow, Wer Hat Angst vor Virginia Jetzt?
